The advertisement for admission into D.El.Ed.course is published through daily newspapers of the state in the month of January in every year. The applicants will have to appear a Pre Entry Test(PET) of 100 marks which is conducted by the SCERT in the month of March in every year. The total marks obtained by the applicants in PET is added to his/her H.S. marks of those HS passed candidates having 50% marks and Degree marks those are graduate for preparation of merit list. A district level merit list is centrally prepared and sends it to the TEIs for admission.
The course is running in 31 nos. of NCTE recognized TEIs(18 DIETS , 4 Normal schools and 9 Basic Training Centres).The seat capacity varies from 100(L.P. + U.P) in each DIET and Normal School along with 50(L.P) in each BTC. The District wise/ Centre wise intake will be notified at the time of advertisement with the specification of the centres.
The course will be of 2 years’ duration comprising 4(four) semesters. The course consists of 28 nos. of papers covering 1800 marks in total. Theory=1300 marks, Practical = 500 marks.
The 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course(PSTE) in this institution starts from 1st July of every academic session, for acquiring the mandatory professional skills of those aspiring to take up teaching in elementary education as a profession. It is to be noted that the acquiring of this diploma by a person will not automatically enable him/her to claim recruitment in elementary schools. Under RTE Act 2009 from 1stApril, 2015, possession of a professional qualification of a teacher, such as D.El.Ed. will be mandatory for any appointment as teacher at the elementary stage in all government/ provincialized/ private schools in Assam according to NCTE norms.
